FROM STARS CAPTAIN TO ASSISTANT COACH

The former long standing Harambee Stars Captain, Musa Otieno was rewarded for his dedication and hard work for the national team to be their assistant coach. The newly appointed assistant to Head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno was also the Santos FC Cape Town assistant coach, the club he has played for since 1997 before his appointment.
Delighted Otieno said that it was his time to give back to his country which he said to have made him what he is today not only in the world of football but also as an individual. He also said that it was high time that the team begin winning its competitive matches to improve the FIFA rankings which he believes not only affects the players but also everybody in the country and urged his fellows on the technical bench that things will be possible for the team by having faith and working hard.
Musa Otieno Ongao, born on December 29, 1973 in Nairobi has enjoyed a successful football career on his native continent, playing for AFC Leopards and Tusker FC in Kenya, and since 1997 for Santos in the South African premier soccer League. He first went to United States in 2008, playing a season on loan with Cleveland City Stars in the United States League second division.
Many football fans in the whole country now have good hopes for the performance of the national team to improve since the Harambee Stars poor run in the World Cup and African Cup of Nations campaign, which began as a sweet dream to South Africa last year degenerated into a national nightmare.
